In 2011 I started working for my father’s glass company. At first, I knew nothing about working with glass. I started as an apprentice and learned as I went. Over the years I got more and more involved with the business and had the privilege of meeting lots of the hardworking, blue collar people who would come into my fathers shop.
The idea for this site came about after my father gave me the task of hiring a new employee. One of our employees left in 2021 and that’s when I started to look for someone to replace him. I put ads up on all of the popular job sites, signs on our work vans, and around our shop but I didn’t get any calls. I tried posting on social media, but still…nothing. We went months without any calls. I started talking to a lot of business owners that came into our shop. They all were stressed out because they couldn’t find anyone to work and had to pick up the slack themselves. We could relate, as we were going through the same thing.
Around that time I was noticing all of the “help wanted” signs on work trucks and outside of local businesses. That’s when I started trying to think of a way to help my father and I as well as the other business owners in our situation. I found myself wishing there was a job board website specifically for people in the trades. All of the existing job websites didn’t seem to be tailored for people in the trades. They seemed to be more for white collar jobs or office jobs. That is when I decided to build a site that I wish existed. Something that is built for hard working, blue collar people.
