Job Description

Job Summary: Responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and repairing commercial refrigeration systems in a timely manner, often working in environments like grocery stores or food processing facilities, focusing on ensuring proper food storage temperatures and adhering to safety regulations, requiring an EPA certification and strong mechanical aptitude. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: • Preventative maintenance: Regularly inspecting and servicing refrigeration units, including cleaning condenser coils, checking refrigerant levels, lubricating components, and replacing filters. • Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnosing malfunctions in refrigeration systems, identifying faulty components, and performing repairs such as replacing compressors, evaporator coils, or control boards. • Emergency response: Responding to urgent calls regarding refrigeration issues outside of regular working hours, including after-hours and weekends. • Compliance with regulations: Adhering to local and federal safety standards regarding refrigerants, proper handling procedures, and documentation. • Parts ordering and inventory management: Identifying necessary replacement parts and ensuring proper stock levels. • Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of service calls, repairs performed, and parts used Required Skills/Abilities: • Technical knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of refrigeration systems, including components like compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control circuits. • Electrical knowledge: Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring related to refrigeration units. Proficient with electrical/electronic controls. • EPA certification: Valid EPA Section 608 certification to handle refrigerants/ EPA Universal Certifications preferred. • Mechanical aptitude: Strong hands-on skills for disassembling, repairing, and reassembling refrigeration equipment • Problem-solving skills: Ability to diagnose complex issues and develop effective solutions • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours and be willing to be on call. Education and Experience: • 2-year college/trade school certification or equivalent work experience. • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license with a clean driving record. • Strong Customer Service Skills. • Strong Communication skills (both verbal and written).
